As I continue to grow as an artist and to learn more as a wildland firefighter, I am drawn in more and more to wildfire as a subject matter. This painting was born out of a desire to push my skill set and paint a smoke column that felt grand and twisted, featuring a red sun that most of us know too well as the hot dry summer months get filled with a smokey air.
